In today's fast-paced world, we are increasingly looking for ways to "switch off" from screens, work emails and everyday stress. One of the most striking trends of the last decade, which has also won the heart of Riga, is art and wine<\/strong>. But have you ever wondered how exactly this idea came about? Who first imagined that a paintbrush in one hand and a glass of wine in the other was the perfect recipe for an unforgettable evening?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this article we will look at how painting workshops with wine<\/strong> became a global phenomenon and why this combination is so therapeutic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Home: Two ladies and one bold idea<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Although wine and art have gone hand in hand since the feasts of Ancient Greece, the modern commercial concept of \u201cPaint and Sip\u201d is quite new. It all started in 2002 in the state of Louisiana, USA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The authors of the concept are two enterprising ladies \u2013 Cathy Detweiler<\/strong> and Renee Logano<\/strong>. They created a studio called \u201cPainting with a Twist\u201d<\/em>. Their goal was not to open another academic art school, where silence and harsh criticism reign. They wanted to create a place where art serves as entertainment and social therapy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interestingly, this format experienced its greatest breakthrough right after major crises \u2013 first after the devastating Hurricane Katrina and later after the global economic recession of 2008. People desperately needed an accessible way to get positive emotions, and creative workshops<\/strong> turned out to be the perfect solution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why do wine and painting work so well?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Many people ask \u2013 is wine really necessary to paint a beautiful picture? The answer lies in psychology. Most adults are afraid of the \u201cblank page\u201d syndrome. We are afraid of making mistakes, we are afraid that we are not talented enough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Liquid Courage and Silencing the Inner Critic<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Wine plays a functional role in this process. A small amount of alcohol helps to relax the part of the brain responsible for self-control and criticism. This allows the colors to flow more freely and the hand movements to become more confident. The main thing in the painting process is not perfection, but creative restart<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Stress reduction and dopamine<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

It has been scientifically proven that even 45 minutes of creative activity significantly reduces cortisol (the stress hormone). When you add a pleasant atmosphere, music and good company to it, the body produces dopamine \u2013 the happiness hormone.
