Ilvija Žeigure is a representative of academic painting, working mainly with oil technique. Her art harmoniously intertwines a classical painting approach with expressive strokes and expressive texture. Her works are distinguished by a soft and balanced color scheme, which becomes a translation of feelings and moods into the painting.
Nature and people are Ilvija's main sources of inspiration. Since childhood, she has loved observing nature – seeing beauty even in the smallest blade of grass, in the play of light and shadow. The artist works intuitively – sketches are not made, but painting is a process guided by feelings and inspired by inner feelings.
Artistic activity
Ilvija has been active in the field of art since her student years – she has organized solo exhibitions and participated in joint exhibitions and plein airs with other Latvian artists. Mural painting is also particularly close to her. The artist likes to transform space, expanding it with the help of color and shape, also creating 3D effects in murals.
Plein airs also play an important role in Ilvija's creative practice – painting in nature is like meditation for her. Capturing a moment in nature – a change in light, a touch of wind, silence – becomes a unique experience that she transforms into art.

“With my paintings, using an understandable and sincere artistic language, I want to invite you to stop in this fast-paced time, look around and see how beautiful nature is. You can find peace and draw strength from it. A person doesn't need that much - everything essential is right there. We must learn to be natural, true and love everything that surrounds us.”
Ilvija paints only in a positive mood – she believes that the artist's feelings, environment, music and even silence inhabit the paintings. The painting becomes a resonator that radiates everything it has absorbed during the creation process.
Pedagogical activity
Ilvija shares her knowledge with others with great joy and warmth. She helps people fulfill their dream of learning the art of painting. The classes are tailored for both beginners and those who want to deepen their skills or are preparing for entrance exams to art schools.
The classes and plein airs she leads are distinguished by a particularly calm and encouraging atmosphere, where attention is paid to the feeling and understanding of color, shape, and space.
